Medicine Woman 2003-2021

The Greatest Saddle Bronc of All Time

#302 Medicine Woman

2003 - December 9, 2021

With a heavy heart Frontier Rodeo Company has announced that #302 Medicine Woman passed away this morning.  She wasn’t just a bucking horse, she was family.   She was the Queen of Frontier Rodeo Company, she helped put us on the map, took us to awards banquets, NFR go-round wins, and took cowboys to the pay window for years at some of the biggest rodeos in the PRCA before she was retired at the 2020 WNFR in Arlington, TX.  She was a 4X PRCA Saddle Bronc Horse of the Year and so much more.  Keep kicking the lights out, you will be missed!

2-time Saddle Bronc Horse of the WNFR

Medicine Woman was a ranch-raised mare out of Big Medicine (sire) & Showtime (dam).    Frontier Rodeo made the decision to retire her in 2020 and she made her final trip at the 2020 WNFR in Arlington, TX.  On Mother’s Day, May 9, 2021, she had her first colt……how fitting was that?  She was selected to the WNFR 12 times.  Her first trip was in 2009 in Bareback riding, she made her debut in the Saddle Bronc Riding in 2010 and never looked back.  She was selected in the bronc riding from 2010-2020.  Throughout her career, multiple cowboys made 90 + rides on her and she helped make Wade Sundell a million-dollar cowboy after his 90.75-point ride on her at the 2015 American.  She has carried many cowboys to the pay window at rodeos all over the US.  If you could make the 8-second ride you were sure to get a check.  Bucking horses like her do not come along every day.  Your dream would be to have a truckload just like her, but it is not likely.  She was a special horse and a blessing to Frontier Rodeo Company.
