62nd Wrangler National Finals Rodeo Recap
Monday, December 14, 2020
What a year 2020 has been, it will definently be carved in the history books! It was mid-summer and we all wondered if there would even be an NFR. With Las Vegas shut down and not allowing events to happen what would they do? On September 9, 2020 they had a press conference in Texas and announced that the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo would be held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. With a lot of hard work and determination to produce the greatest show on dirt the PRCA and the state of Texas got busy and in 85 days, they put together a great WNFR! As a stock contractor, I know we are very thankful to them for all their hard work to make this happen. The 2020 rodeo season was hard on everyone involved in the rodeo industry, so being able to have the WNFR was truly a blessing.
We had 17 head of livestock selected to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. On Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas we were named the 2020 PRCA Stock Contractor of the Year for the 6th consecutive time. Owner, Jerry Nelson is immensely proud of this accomplishment. But what made this night even better was when they announced our dear friend the late Rex Bugbee as the 2020 PRCA Pickup man of the Year. The Frontier Rodeo crew could not be prouder of this honor for him and his family. He will always be missed, but never forgotten. Medicine Woman, a 4X PRCA Saddle Bronc Horse of the Year was voted 2020 Reserve Saddle Bronc of the Year. In the 10th round Zeke Thurston, split 4th place on her with an 87-point ride. That was her last out under the bright lights of the WNFR. She is the Queen of Frontier Rodeo Company and in our opinion will go down as one of the greatest broncs in the history of the PRCA. She will be well taken care of and live out her retirement in green pastures and hopefully raise some outstanding baby buckers. Frontier animals took cowboys to the pay window five times this past week, winning a total of $66,847 on our four-legged athletes. Roscoe Jarboe drew Magic Poison in the 8th round. We were excited about this match up as he won the Dodge City Roundup on him with a 93-point ride. Jarboe made an outstanding 89.5-point ride to split the round and took Frontier Rodeo Manager, Heath Stewart to Texas Live for the buckle presentation sponsored by the South Point Hotel & Casino. He received a go-round buckle from Montana Silversmith, a check from Resistol Hats and a bottle of Pendleton Whisky. #601 Showstopper was voted 3rd best Bareback Horse of the NFR.
We would like to thank our families, friends, and our outstanding “Frontier” crew. Thanks to the rodeo committees that hire us, to the contestants that enter our rodeos and the RODEO FANS! Thanks to our sponsors American Hat Company, Justin Boots and Wrangler for keeping our crew looking sharp in and out of the arena. None of this would be possible without all of you. And a BIG thank you to the state of Texas for stepping up and hosting the WNFR and to the PRCA for the greatest 10 days in rodeo!
Congratulations to the 2020 PRCA World Champions. We hope to see you at a Frontier Rodeo in 2021.
